Both Apple TV Plus and Disney+ are coming in November – and with them will come both an opportunity for more great content, but of course an opportunity to spend more money! FairlawnGig provides you and your family with the opportunity to “cut the cord” on cable or satellite TV or simply receive more and more entertainment options. What can you expect, how much will it cost, and what kind of programming is coming? Here’s an overview:
Apple TV Plus
If you have an Apple product and recently updated the operating system, you may notice an “Apple TV” icon has appeared. Apple TV is due November 1 and while the details are still unclear on whether you will be able to receive complimentary programming with the purchase of hardware, the base price is $4.99/month. You can also sign up for a free seven-day trial at tv.apple.com.
Unlike Netflix, Apple TV will be less of a clearinghouse of content and more of a home to “prestige” programming. New Releases on November 1 will include shows you may already have seen some advertisements and maybe some buzz including:
- Morning Show starring Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, and Steve Carrell.
- See, a dystopian adventure starring Jason Momoa and Alfre Woodard.
- Dickinson starring Hailee Steinfeld as Angie Dickinson.
- The executive producers behind Battlestar Galactica and Outlander tell the story of what happened if the Russians reached the moon first and the space race never ended in For All Mankind.
- Numerous other programming options including offerings from Oprah and Steven Spielberg.
Disney+
Last week Disney released a 3 ½ HOUR video touting everything that will be available on the streaming service when it premieres on November 12. The service offers you the opportunity to “Stream more for less” at a cost point of $6.99 a month or a discounted, $69.99 per year.
Of course, the Disney+ channel will include all Disney programming including the more obscure television titles from when you (or your parents) were growing up from Sunday Night’s Wonderful World of Disney. Every single Disney movie you have purchased previously on DVD will now be available on this streaming service.
Disney also promises 35 originals in the first year of Disney+ which will include Marvel shows and the much-anticipated Star Wars show The Mandalorian. And if the live action trailer for Lady and the Tramp has piqued your interest, you’ll only be able to watch it on Disney+.
As always, you’ll be able to enjoy these and all streaming options seamlessly with your FairlawnGig connection. If for some reason you want to adjust your speed, it’s easy to do on our website.
